 Geothermal Data Exchange

The Geothermal Data Exchange (GDEx) handles data generated by geothermal projects and other geothermal-related data not handled by other data sites. It serves as a portal for finding data on a wide array of geothermal energy issues. The basic components of the GDEx are the "digital library", "discrete database" and the mechanisms to find data of interest ("search and discovery"). As part of the National Geothermal Data System (NGDS) GDEx provides a link to the NGDS for the geothermal user community. Through web applications, GDEx provides a core solution for data acquisition, management, maintenance, and access. The goal of GDEx is to become a convenient and powerful resource to help researchers, industry, and others meet their routine needs for data access and management.

Additionally, GDEx curates all geothermal-related data collected by Department of Energy (DOE) Geothermal Technology Program (GTP) funded projects. DOE-GTP funded project data are submitted to the DOE Geothermal Data Repository (DOE-GDR) hosted by OpenEI at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Information and assistance in regard to preparing data files and metadata as well as information regarding the curation process are provided under the DOE Projects tab.
